General Services Organization The GSR deals with matters concerning national issues like content in the Big Book, pamphlets and the Grape Vine. The local G.S.Representative (GSR) is our voice in the overall governing of AA. The GSR takes our input to the AA General Services Board and solicits our general concensus on action items affecting AA as a whole.
This is a great way to meet other dedicated AA's and experience the wonder of this upside-down organization. Inter-Group Council The Inter-Group Representative deals with group matters within a geographic area on service matters. An example might be the AA Hot-line phone coverage. The Inter-Group Representative, like the GSR is responsible for coordinating communication between the various geographic groups within AA. The inter group Representative likewise takes input from the group and returns our general concensus back to the Inter-Group Council. Carrying the message to those who cannot go to public meetings is a wonderful way to grow your sobiety. The H&I Organization always needs volunteers to manage a particular facility and also needs secretaries who will make sure the meetngs take place. The also need a pool of volunteer speakers to share their experience and bring hope to inmates and patients. Meeting Secretaries This is where it all starts. The AA Meeting Secretary is the first 'public face' of AA. The meeting secretary selects speakers who will carry the AA message to new- commers and old-timers alike. The meeting is the 'grass roots' part of AA. The meeting secretary is responsible for running a meeting in a professional, friendly and safe way - in an inviting and clean environment. |
